Awards Ceremony & Screening | May 18 | Warsaw
On May 18, the ten best videos of
Radical Democracy: European Video Challenge 2014 will be screened at the Planete+ Doc Film Festival in Warsaw, Poland – in the heart of Europe. The Award Ceremony marks the highlight of the Radical Democracy Challenge, which was launched a mere three months ago.
During the Closing Ceremony of the Planete+ Doc festival on May 17, the international Jury will officially announce the 5 Winners. At the Radical Democracy Award Ceremony on May 18, the 5 Special Mentions will be announced and all 10 videos will be presented.
Planete+ Doc Film Festival is one of the biggest documentary festivals in Poland. For the last 11 years the festival has shown important change-making films, ran debates and master classes with most prominent international filmmakers, and discussed how film plays a role in documenting and commenting on these changes.
We host our award ceremony at Planete+ Doc Film Festival, because we wanted to share our stories with an audience that is into all these issues – where there are “people who care”. We believe our films should be shown in such places – open for the public, full of intellectuals and artists alike, in the centre of Warsaw and in the centre of Europe.
Besides that, in Poland the 10th anniversary of EU accession is celebrated this year. A time for bitter-sweet reflection about these years full of opportunities, but of increasing social segregation as well. Our Radical Democracy videos give you a glimpse on the process Europe is going through right now.
